Surface Reaction

The Surface Reaction subnode under Porous Catalyst is used to define surface reaction source terms to the mass transport within the catalyst.

From the list, choose the domains (from its parent feature) on which the surface reaction rate is defined.

Several Surface Reaction nodes can be used to account for different surface reactions in different parts for the modeling geometry.

The bulk species (defined as dependent variables in physics interface) can also take part in a surface reaction.

Select a surface reaction rate (SI unit: kg/(m2·s)) for species i from Rsi list. Enter a reaction rate expression when is selected from the list. Alternatively, if surface reaction rate expressions have been defined in a Chemistry interface, they can be chosen from the list.

This section is available when at least one species is selected under the Adsorbed Species section in the Porous Catalyst feature.

Select a surface reaction rate (SI unit: kg/(m2·s)) for adsorbed species cads_i from Rscads_i list. If is selected from the list, enter a surface reaction rate expression. Alternatively, if surface reaction rate expressions have been defined in a Chemistry interface, they can be chosen from the list.

This section is available when there is at least one species is added to the surface species table under the Surface Species section in the Porous Catalyst feature.

In the surface reaction rate table, there are three columns, , , and 2.

Select a surface reaction rate (SI unit: kg/(m2·s)) from column for a surface species which is defined in the parent feature. With being selected, the table cell at the same row under column 2 is editable (otherwise it is read-only), and enter a surface reaction rate expression. Alternatively, if surface reaction rate expressions have been defined in a Chemistry interface, they can be chosen from the list under column .
